Shift Engineer – Hot End

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide leadership for the Hot End shift team and execution of scheduled production plans.
Maintain Safety, Quality and Productivity of the shift and pass down all important communication to incoming shift.
Building up a strong competent Hot end team and live with the expectations of Shift and Functional Head.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Plan and execute changes at Batch House, Furnace, Float Bath and Lehr process setups on glass pull adjustments.
  2. Inspect, control, and maintain process parameters according to standards set by Functional as well as Shift Managers to get optimum efficiencies.
  3. Ensure timely quality checks for Raw Materials, as well as finish products, and make sure they meet set specifications.
  4. Conduct physical inspection of area of responsibility to check condition of equipment, operation, and processes. He corrects them whenever necessary.
  5. Implement established operating procedures for specific activities including emergencies and abnormalities. He attends to all equipment malfunctions at Hot End, and ensures minimal downtime and losses.
  6. Prepare and submit regular reports related to operation including shift reports, summary reports at periodic intervals, and cost-related materials.
  7. Conduct regular training of crew to improve skills and emergency readiness as per overall float line plan, and strictly implement safety guidelines at area of responsibility.
  8. Provide directions to Hot End shift team as to manpower assignments to carry out shift operational activities from receiving of raw materials till glass annealing.
  9. Coordinate with Cold End Shift Engineer and QC Technician regarding changeover time, production schedules / cut sequence, etc., and monitor actual production quality, yield and losses.
  10. Maintain proper housekeeping at area of responsibility.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates with Degree/Diploma in engg with not less than 12 years in the case of Graduate and 15 yrs in the case of Diploma with working experience in Float glass manufacturing plants.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Able to work in shifts with 24 hours shift rotation. Working with mulitcultural and varied education team members.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Written and verbal communication in English.
